Shipping, Returns & Frequently Asked Questions
Shipping
How long does it take you to ship the items?
Every piece of jewellery we sell is made to order. We offer a very wide range of sizes as well as customisation, so we only begin production once an order comes in. This means none of our products are ever ready to ship.
Silver jewellery
We aim to ship silver items within 15 working days, but we may take longer if we need to source special materials. If can be a lot quicker for less busy periods but drop us an e-mail if you have a deadline and we will work around it.
Gold jewellery
Gold items will take an estimated 20 working days, as all gold items require specially ordered materials.
On any custom order we will communicate as clearly as possible with you and give you a clear time estimate before starting the order.
If you need your item by a specific date, please contact us on before placing your order.
How long will it take to arrive?
Within Norway, orders will typically arrive within 2 to 5 business days.
For countries in Europe, the estimated delivery time is 4 to 9 business days.
For the USA, the estimated delivery time is 5 to 10 business days.
For countries outside of the above, estimated delivery is 5 to 10 business days.
Upon delivery
Most shipments will require a signature on delivery. Keep in mind that orders outside of Norway will take more or less time according to customs clearence procedures in the destination country.
To ensure your items are not delayed please make sure someone is available to sign for the items at the delivery address.
We might ship your orders in one or more parcels if necessary – at no additional cost to you, but please be aware of this if ordering more than one item.
Note that we are not responsible for delays during shipping, nor delays caused by any customs clearance procedures in the destination country, or any duties and taxes incurred in the destination country.
How much does delivery cost?
We operate with a standard shipping cost of £4.99 worldwide, however some exceptions to this apply.
- Australia: Standard shipping to Australia costs £49.95. This is due to Australia Post refusing to process packages containing jewellery and as such all packages must be shipped express via DHL to ensure items will not get seized upon arrival to Australia.
How do you package your items?
Silver jewellery
Our silver rings, necklaces, and earrings are packaged in a black cotton drawstring bag, inside a small brown box. Inside you will also find a Town Talk polishing cloth to keep your silver piece shiny over time. The box has a bow tied around it to secure it shut and allow you to gift it to someone straight away. This box is then placed inside a Jiffy Green mailing envelope, which has enough padding to keep your box safe. Our packaging is fully recyclable, in line with our aim to reduce our environmental impact. We do advise you keep the cotton bag to safely store your jewellery.
Gold jewellery
Our gold rings are packaged in a black wooden ring box, with a cream faux-leather interior. If you purchase a single ring, we place it in an individual ring box, while ring sets are placed in a larger double wooden ring box. These are high quality ring boxes that we advise you to keep to store your jewellery safely. With the wooden box you also receive a gold polishing cloth. We pack the wooden box inside a recyclable Kraft box, which has wood wool for padding. This box is then tied up with a bow so you can gift it to someone straight away.

Jewellery Care
How do I take care of my jewellery?
If you wish to give your piece extra shine, you can rub the piece with the Town Talk polishing cloth you received with your purchase. If there is build up on your piece, you might want to soak it in warm soapy water for a couple of minutes before using a soft toothbrush to gently rub any dirt off. Finish off by rinsing and drying your piece.
Do not use chemical or silver cleaners on pieces with oxidisation, as this will remove the darkened areas.
Keep any items you are not wearing in the cotton bag provided to avoid oxidisation.
Read more about caring for your jewellery here.
General
Where do your stones come from?
All of our materials are purchased from a single supplier in Hatton Garden that shares our same values. The gemstones we feature in our pieces are free from modern slavery and human trafficking. They are natural, untreated stones.
What do you mean by ‘handmade’?
The whole production process at Maru Jewellery is carried out by hand, using a minimal amount of power tools to polish and finish our pieces. We measure, cut, shape, sand, set stones, and polish by hand, which is why every piece is unique and slightly different to every other in the same style. You can read more about our production process here.
Customisation
Can you make a piece with my choice of metal/stone?
Yes, we are happy to make custom orders, which can be arranged by navigating to the Custom Orders page or by contacting us at .
Please note that these orders take longer to ship than items in stock or readily available styles. If you have a deadline please let us know.
Sizing
How do I find out my ring size?
Please refer to Sizing Guidelines for assistance on finding your size.
What if I ordered the wrong size?
If you ordered the wrong size in a design that can be re-sized, we can do this for you if you ship the item back to us. You would have to cover a re-sizing fee and our shipping costs to send it back to you, so we advise you to visit a jeweller or two to get your ring size measured accurately. If the size is very far from the one you purchased, we might not be able to resize your ring as it depends on each style and how much we can work around it.
Hallmarking
Does your items come hallmarked?
At your request, we can provide hallmarking services for items that would otherwise not require it under the regulations. Note that this will add processing time and costs to your order.
For more information about hallmarking please see our Hallmarking Section.
Ordering and Payments
Do you take cash payment or accept bank transfers?
On specific request we may be able to take payment in either cash or via a bank transfer. If this is something you require, please contact us at and we should be able to make arrangements.
Note that we will not start work on your items before payment has been received in full.
I cannot select my country when checking out – what can I do?
Some countries have blanket bans on jewellery imports. This means that we cannot send there because our products would be confiscated at customs and would never arrive to the buyer.
Other countries or territories have UK or international bans restricting us from shipping there at all.
Lastly, some countries have unclear laws regarding the handling of goods entering their domestic market, so to avoid any legal risks we cannot ship to these locations.
If you cannot find your country in the drop-down list at checkout your best options is to contact us directly at and we will try to make an arrangement.
